Withdrawal of Abstracts

If an accepted abstract is published prior to ICAAC 2012, the authors agree to withdraw the abstract. Withdrawals of abstracts made after June 1, 2012 can be subject to a penalty as described below.

Penalties

Persons who submit abstracts should consider them official communication to the conference. The following cases can incur a penalty, prohibiting the author from presenting papers at ASM meetings and conferences for up to three years. A letter will be mailed to individuals being subject to this penalty. Those who wish to dispute the penalty must write a letter to the ICAAC Program Committee and send it to the attention of the ICAAC Program Manager, ASM Meetings Department. A response letter will be sent to the presenting author once the committee has considered and acted on your exception request.

Cases subject to penalty:

  • Submission of an abstract based on results that have been published in any journal, or on any web site before September 12, 2012; or presented or submitted for presentation at any public scientific conference prior to September 12, 2012.
  • Withdrawal of an abstract after the June 1, 2012 deadline.
  • Failure of any of the co-authors to present an accepted abstract as scheduled.
  • Failure to notify ASM of a change in the presenting author.
  • Failure to disclose to the ICAAC audience when an off-label use of a drug is presented, per AMA guidelines.
  • Use of a slide or poster presentation for promotional purposes.
  • Presentation of an un-authorized abstract.
