ICAAC Objectives


The following session types will offer continuing education credit. Individual sessions earning credit will be annotated in the Final Program with the CME symbol.

Continuing Medical Education

The American Society for Microbiology is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

ASM will determine the maximum number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for this meeting and will publish this value in the Final Program. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The American Medical Association (AMA) has determined that physicians not licensed in the U.S. who participate in this CME activity are eligible for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Diplomates of the American Board of Medical Microbiology, Diplomates of the American Board of Medical Laboratory Immunology, and Registrants of the National Registry of Microbiologists may earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ toward re-certification. Each professional should claim credit commensurate with their level of participation in the activity.


Continuing Pharmacy Education

ACPELogoThe American Society for Microbiology is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.

Sessions approved for CPE credit will have a corresponding Universal Activity Number (UAN) next to their session title. All sessions at the 51st ICAAC are knowledge-based CPE activities. The amount of CEUs will be published in the Final Program and on the website as soon as available. ASM complies with the ACPE Standards for Continuing Pharmacy Education.


California Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS)

ASM is accredited by the California Department of Health Services to offer continuing education for California Clinical Laboratory Scientists. All sessions designated for CME credits will also qualify for California CE credits toward CLS license renewal.


Florida Clinical Laboratory Personnel

ASM is accredited by the Florida Department of Health to offer continuing education for Florida Clinical Laboratory Personnel. All sessions designated for CME credits will also qualify for Florida CE credits toward license renewal.


Other CE Licenses

You may obtain a Participation Statement of Credit by completing the activity evaluation. This is a detailed statement that documents your participation in the activity.
